I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you all for running the Brighton Marathon 2010 in support or the Sussex Heart Charity.
This charity has been at the forefront of cardiac care, helping to enhance and improve care and treatment of cardiac patients in Sussex for over 20 years. The equipment that we purchase has been new and innovative and has enabled the development of new services at the Sussex Cardiac Centre. We now have a cardiac service that provides better treatment and better and faster recovery for cardiac patients
As well as this, we have been actively involved on the support of community based projects such as Heartguard Community Resuscitation training scheme and the community first responders; we have also been heavily involved in the implementation of Automated Electronic Defibrillators and the training of staff at Gatwick airport. These community based projects have saved lives throughout Sussex and will continue to do so for many years
Your support will help us to weather the financial crisis that all charities have been suffering over the last few years and will enable us to continue our work throughout Sussex
Good luck with your marathon training and thank you once again for your invaluable support
Mr Andrew Cohen FRCS, CTh
Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Chairman of Directors of the Sussex Heart Charity
